In a case of life imitating art, DJ Havana Brown’s first foray into film will be a character who is a star “behind the decks”.
However things get a little less straightforward after that. The venture will be produced by another first-time in Jason Stevens — a former Cronulla Sharks footballer. And it will star a cavalcade of familiar faces in what is being billed as an AFL/NRL comedy drama.
Former Home and Away actor Dan Ewing plays the lead role with Stan Walker, Kat Hoyos, George Houvardas and Rhys Muldoon also in the cast. Brendan Fevola and Beau Ryan will make cameos too.
“You’ve just got to draw from your personal experiences,” Brown said of acting, filming her scenes yesterday at Marquee nightclub.
“I’ve been working on my acting skills and getting a lot of coaching for the last year so I’m very excited.”
Stevens, 44, started writing scripts when he retired from professional rugby league in 2005.
The film, Chasing Comets, is loosely based on his own life and is his first project to make it to production phase.
“The tagline of the film is victory beyond competition,” he said.
